How Did it Start:

Hope Gardenier from School Sprouts http://www.schoolsprouts.org/  started one of the first Springfield School gardens;

She provided curriculum and staff to train teachers on how to implement the curriculum and use the garden as an outdoor classroom in 2009 at Zanetti Elementary. At the same time, Patrick Sullivan from Facilities Management and Ron ST Amand District Science Department head started a School Garden Advisory Board. They appointed John Alphin as the School Garden Coordinator.
